History and Culture
Deiva Marina has been a fishing village for as long as anyone can remember, but in the seventh century, when settlers ventured down from the hillside, it was set up as a market town. The pastel painted houses are built into the rock above the sea, and the marina itself was constructed after the second world war.

The Da Passano family controlled Deiva Marina for many centuries, and in the 1100s it was ruled by the Genoese. In the middle ages, the Ligurian region was prone to attacks by raiding pirates, and Deiva Marina did not escape attack. Fortifications were built to help protected the town during this period.

Churches and Museums

This parish church was constructed in the 1700s. It's situated in the oldest section of the town. The church square features a mosaic made of small stones that depicts the trade winds. It's a typical feature of the Ligurian region.

This structure, dedicated to St. John the Baptist lies adjacent to the Church of Sant'Antonio Abate, in the same historic square.

The Sanctuary of the Assunta
