 Introduction
Potenza Centrale is the name of the main railway station serving the city of Potenza, and the region of Basilicata with a flow of 950,000 passengers a year. The station is located at the meeting of several lines: The Battipaglia - Potenza - Metaponto, the Potenza - Foggia and some lines of Ferrovie Appulo Lucane. In addition to upgrading projects under the program Centostazioni, the Central Station will work on the connection between it and the Bus connection's of Via Nazario Sauro, through a line of escalators and underground passages.
 History
It was inaugurated on August 29 1880 but until 2005 it carried the name of Potenza Inferiore (Lower) due to the fact that it is located in the lower part of the city.
