9 km from Florence,on the historical street of Chianti which leds to Siena, La Presura Farm is the first farm that opens ist virtual gates to the sweet hills of Chianti Classico,where the perfect harmony between declivous, hills and panorama makes this land an incredibly impressive place.The old structure of the farm is dated to the medieval period and it was a warning tower on the valley of Ema river between Florence and Siena. The surrounding tower and fields were bought by chance by our family during the Napoleonic Wars, in the middle 1800's.Our family shared them in several farms and planted the first mixed cultivations of grapevine and olive.During the following years the grapevine and olive plantations were removed to leave only piece of fields with olive plantations, while the grapevine was placed in modern structures called rows.
The main villa and the farmhouses took the name of Presura. It derives from a plant that was very common in that area. It similar to the thistle and it was used by the shepherds to curdle the milk for the production of pecorino cheese, which is more digestible than the cheese-rennet.
