 Introduction
The gleaming white facade of the cathedral gives no hint of the exuberance housed within. There's a particularly striking Crucifixion above the main altar. The triple-tiered bell tower rests on an archway into which three classical columns and a number of other fragments have been set.
 History
The Duomo (cathedral) has been rearranged several times during the centuries. In romantic style it dates to the XVth century; the site door is from the same period (1474) in Renaissance style surmounted by the Aragonese escutcheon. Later it was restored several times until the restoration of 1924 during which its front was rebuilt entirely. The church, in addition the baptistery was where Torquato Tasso was baptized, maybe the most famous citizen of the town.
